On December 18, 1991, I was hit by a drunk driver, and I am now a quadriplegic. The drunk driver received 8 to 23 months in prison but was released on parole after just 12 months. He carried the minimum amount of insurance, therefore I only received $15,000. I lived at home for 11 years. I had nursing care for 5 hours per day, the rest of the time my children took care of me. the world. On December 13, 2002 I moved to Inglis House, a residential community for people with physical disabilities. Since moving here I have learned very much about the computer. I now work here at Inglis House doing data entry, teaching basic computer skills and teaching the printshop program to other residents.
I used to draw and paint before my accident, now I draw and paint with my mouth using a special mouth-stick. I've had to Art Exhibits, I've sold 4 paintings. I also make greeting cards for all occasions, with the computer images of my paintings on the front of the cards. Although my life was changed by my accident, I still am able to live and enjoy life.
