Lucy's Story
Life
After Galileo High School, I continued my education at SF City and SF State University where I was a Fine Arts Major. The summer before my last year (to get my BA), I thought I'd go travel and see all the incredible places I learned about in Art History (thank you Mr. Berwanger!). TIA, a charter airline out of Oakland was hiring flight attendants at that time. I thought, what a great summer job! Little did I know, in 1974, that I started my flying career. I did travel through Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.
I moved to Hawaii in 1978 when I was hired by Pan Am World Airways. With Pan Am, I was able to travel to New Zealand, Austraila, Fiji, Samoa, as well as India. In 1981, I discove...Expand for more
red my passion for windsurfing (riding waves and jumping waves) and it has kept me loving the ocean and Hawaii. In 1986, United Airlines bought the Pacific routes from Pan Am and along with the routes, United took 1202 of us flight attendants.
Today, I am still loving the ocean and still flying for United Airlines out of Honolulu base. My son and I live on the magical Windward side of Oahu. The trips I fly are mostly to LAX, SFO and once in a while I do a Japan trip. Being a flight attendant isn't an adventure anymore like it was in the 70's. I still enjoy my job and thanking people for their garbage, hahaha!
It isn't often that I have old classmates on my flights but if you are on board, let me know!
