Lucy's Story
I married in Sept. of 1964. My son was born the following year in Cheboygan MI. Then we moved to SC. Went to the Philippines in 1967. Where my daughter was born in 1968. I also worked for the Red Cross while there, with Viet Nam vets coming through the hospital. I had a first hand look at what war does to our boys. Returned to the US to Sumter, SC. We stayed there a year then moved to Grand Forks, ND for a year. Then the children and I moved to Bangor, MI. But before we did we took a little trip to Disney World. We went through 22 states and just had a wonderful time. Then to MI. and my husband left the children and I in MI and he left for Viet Nam. One year later, he comes home and we move to Georgia and are there for 4 years. We retire from the service in 1976 and move to Olanta...Expand for more
,, SC. We are there 4 years, and I work as a teacher aide. Then we move to Lake City, SC. buy a home and settle down. I take a Nurses aide course and start doing private duty work with terminally ill patients. A couple of Doctors like me and keep me working for their patients. My husband develops cancer from agent orange from Viet Nam. He dies in Feb. of 1997. I remarry it doesn't work out and we divorce in 2010, and he passed away in March of 2013. And I am still living in SC. I changed my name back to my children's name Lee. My son Jeffrey and his wife are both nurses. My daughter has a lot of medical problems, but her husband is really good to her. The children do not live close to me. So I am pretty much on my own here. I have friends here and stay as busy as I want to be.
