Luis's Story

Life After graduating from James Monroe High School in June of 1965, I attended Germain School of Photography where I majored in General Photography Studies. While attending school, I worked part-time in a motion picture lab where I gained knowledge in that industry. After graduating photography school, I took a full-time job with the motion picture lab. I could not find a job in what I actually wanted, a job in commercial photography, partly because I was elligible for the draft, and no job wanted to hire someone that could be gone at any moment. I joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon returning from the Marines, I again tried to find a photography related job. There was nothing available for an inexperienced person. I ended up answering a newspaper employment ad for a magagement trainee position in international banking, no experience necessary. I worked my way up in the international banking field and over a period of 17 years, and a few ...Expand for more
job changes, I ended up as a Vice President of Operations. All during this time, I did some photography jobs whenever I could, since that was my passion. In the late 80's when the banking industry was falling apart, I tried some other related jobs, but nothing clicked. I decided to make a change and started my own photography business, Concepcion Photography, Ltd. I specialize in weddings, sweet16's , events, family portraiture, and children's sports, daycares, seniors, and schools. I am currently building a website for the business and will have the info on this bio as soon as it's ready. I am married, have a 38 year old daughter from a previous marriage, and have been living in Brooklyn, although my job is primarily out of the Bronx, where I am always in the old neighborhood. I am in touch with a lot of friends, some which go back to first grade! I am looking to connect with friends and acquaintances from the past, so please contact me.
