Workplace
Started out doing PR for Miller Brewing, went on to producing and hosting radio and TV, then became a meeting and convention producer doing sales gatherings throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Moved to Indianapolis in 1984 to produce advertising material and special events for United Technologies. Wrote and produced their national radio and television spots, mostly with General Chuck Yeager in Hollywood. Also re-started their Indianapolis 500 racing team. Retired, and now work part-time for the IMAX Corporation of Toronto. I do some travel and historical writing in my spare time. Mostly WWII England. I'm a member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society and try to visit the many air fields they flew out of in the U.K. during the war.
Military
I am extremely happy that I had the opportunity to serve my country by being a member of the Armed Services. I spent six years as a member of the U.S. Army as a trainer of administrative subjects. My son Graham served in the U.S....Expand for more
Air Force as an Air Traffic Control airman at Whiteman AFB in Missouri and in Iraq. He is now an Approach Control Air Traffic Controller for the Southern California FAA area based in San Diego. On 8 May 2010, my daughter Hopeann graduated Magna cum Laude from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and hopes to work in news and feature production...possibly with the BBC in London where she studied one semester.
Life
I don't get back to Wisconsin very often. Friends Bob Knoll and Keith Catlin and I had a little reunion in Lake Geneva in 2009, and I plan to return to Appleton for the Pyrotechniques Guild International convention in August 2010. That interest goes back to the days when I produced fireworks displays for the various conventions and gatherings I directed when working for corporations. attended the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas as the representative of Ball State University. During that time, her video news production won the NAB's top award for a live production made during the convention.
