Lynda's Story

Life My given Ojibwa name translates to "Spiritdove" ...Lynda Spiritdove Imburgia. Some have copied my Spiritdove name over the years...so just know I am not New Age in anyway. Those are imposters!!! Righ out of High School, I got into 3 years of what I call "the dark side" of life. I nearly lost my life. Thankfully, through prayer, I survived and was given a life I am very Thankful for. So, I decided to make the very best of whatever time I have left in life! I graduated college with a Masters in Counseling and a minor in Native American Studies. Before that, I was a Pre-School Teacher in an alternative program for many years. I worked in Yakima for many years previously with Migrant workers children and later with differently abled children. My Husband of 38 years and I have 2 biological daughters and one adopted son. We now have 8 precious Grandchildren! My Husband is Sicilian and is a gormet cook, an Artist and an Electrician. We have our own Electrical Company. I am a photographer. We have two dogs,a Malamute and an Alaskan Husky and two albino doves. I am the "Tribal Liaison" for the Penn Cove Water Festival in Coupeville, Wa. I am on thier board of directors. It is an Historical and authentic Native American event held on the Island every May. We have helped raise 5 Foster Children through Ina Makah...a Native American agency. I have run a wild animal clinic for 5 years in the past. I ran the "Nature Appreciation Day Camp" for children 7-12 years of age for 6 years. I have also been a Freelance Photo Journalist in our area having my own "Pet of the Week" newspaper column for many years. I write poetry as well. It is copyrighted. You can find it under Lynda Spiritdove at "Autumn Leaves" Poetry on the internet. I have written a book entitled,...Expand for more
"I have Learned Something!" all about Native American Perspectives and Elder Wisdom. It is applied to working with kids at risk. As most of my '68 classmates know, I was different. I now know it was because I am part Native American Indian. Ojibwa/Chippewa. I have researched our family and gotten back absolute proof. It was always in me. I spent my school years daydreaming and looking out the window. I practically lived outdoors in good weather! I always loved animals and nature. I always was in awe of God. I gave my heart to Jesus in 1970 after lots of searching for truth. I met my Husband in 1971...and have never looked back! Jesus set me free! I was already a "Free Spirit"...but knowing Jesus personally... really brought me the peace and joy I'd wanted all my life! He is REAL!!! The accomplishments in my life are because of Jesus! And TRUE LOVE! Gods' love is pure. It is undefiled. It is faithful and permanent! He wants us to have lifes best and He brings us people into our lives after we are "saved" that really love us also. Unconditional love. No matter what! I have been greatly blessed and I will never ever forget it! I have been through college and life...I have traveled to Europe and South America...but Jesus is it! He is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE!!! My Hubby built our dome home in the woods on a lake on Whidbey Island when he was 27. We have lived here, gardening and beautifying our land. It is our personal earthly paradise! Our daughters are married to good men. Our adopted Son is with the woman he loves and they have moved back to the Island after a brief stay overtown. Our Grandchildren are a great joy in our lives! All our children live within 15 minutes of us! Life is good! We are Blessed! Lynda Louise "Spiritdove" Imburgia
