Lynda's Story

"The Many Lifetimes of Lyn" Summer of '66 entered the Convent in Orange County, CA & stayed all of 6 mos. Hey, sometimes ya gotta do the unthinkable to get clarity on your life. After leaving convent continued college ed...tranferred to Cal State University Northridge, earned a BFA in Photography and minor in elem. ed. Got married during that time, graduated in '72 and again at the end of summer of '72 landed a teaching job in London, England. Lived and traveled in Europe for close to a year and a half. Al (ex) and I backpacked all over Europe and Scandanavia during our time over there. After 5 years of marriage we went our separate ways. Enter Pete, my current husband, life-partner of 33 years. We have 3 awesome, individuals we claim as friends (some would call them our children). After living in Woodland Hills, CA for several years we moved to Allentown, PA in 1988. During that time skiied (both water and snow), camped, traveled troughout the entire Eastern and Northestern states. Again went back to college to get my Masters in Ed. Worked in special ed in a residential traeatment facility for kids with emotional and behavioeal issues. It was during this time that I became passionate about the value of Outdoor Education. So, at 58! Pete and I went to Virginia to become the oldest and I might add "most kick ass" new apprentices at Inner Quest Outdoor Educator Program. Inner Quest was truly my journey as I conquered fear of heights (a high ropes course will do that if you allow it), claustraphobia (spelunking-caving, s...Expand for more
cary stuff), and general fear (lack of confidence) in every aspect of my life! Pete and I traveled as full-time RV'ers for five years. I got antsy and needed to get back to work so began working at Hawk Cicle Wilderness Education in Upstate NY (11 miles from Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame). I became a personal caretaker for my sweet 10 year old Javi (son of Ric & Trista who operate one of the most amazing trainings ala Tom Brown, Tracking Project, etc. Although I felt I had finally "found my spot" Life sent the "reincarnational message to morph once again". So, in a nutshell, I now reside back out west in Carson City, NV. Cut off my Dreadlocks of 3years and now proudly sport a sassy, sexy Mohawk (oh yeah, did I mention the grey hair). Hair has always been a way for me to embody my message of Peace and Freedom. Dreadlocks everyone pretty much gets....The Mohawk comes from my time in Upstate, NY. Being one of the fiercest of the Iraquois...I learned if they could "bury the hatchet" and live in Peace so can we! MOHAWKS FOR PEACE is my new battle cry!!!!! What's yours? I'm lovin being 60, hope you can say the same. I'll get a few pictures up so you, who are more visual, can see the "evolution of Lyn" By the way, this is the abridged version, so contact me so we can get caught up on the details of our lives. PS: If your not an open-minded, free thinker who knows our human species is capable of drastic evolution NOW don't bother....I'll probably just piss you off!
