Lynda's Story

About 32 years ago, I walked out of THS with a diploma on my way to enlist in the Marine Corps. Whatever made me think THAT was a bright idea is beyond me ... but when I got there, I found out just how wrong I was. Thankfully, they didn't like me any more than I liked them and boot camp ended quickly for me. I came home and got really involved with a guy from Lakeside. My Mom and my two sisters were moving to New Jersey since Mom was finally getting married to that man that kept her out of town all the time. We didn't particularly like him, but she did and all the jetting back and forth to NJ sure did make for some good party opps while she was gone. I didn't think NJ was such a grand idea, so I moved in with Mr. Lakeside, and started a family. We got married in January of 1979 and my first son, Nick, was born the following May. Second son, Ben, followed in August of 1980. In 1983, Mr. Lakeside and I had had about enough of each other and we split. Shortly thereafter, I found I was pregnant yet again, and little Leisa was born in early May of 1984 in, of all places, NJ ... ran right home to Momma. Lots of single mom stuff happened over the ensuing years, including a move to Jacksonville when Mom's marriage to Mr. NJ split up in 1985. She moved close to her Mom .. funny how we girls do that. I got married again in the early 90s to a Jacksonville guy who died of cancer a couple of years later. By 1994, I decided a move to Atlanta was in the...Expand for more
cards since Jacksonville had too many memories I didn't want to deal with anymore (and a lot of trouble). I met the love of my life in Atlanta in 1995. I married my Charlie in 1996. He adopted little Leisa (who was then in full on little girl puberty) in 1997 and it was like the happy ending to the princess story. Leisa and her Daddy are closer than close and both of the boys are cemented to Charlie as well. He's one of those "what you see is what you get" kind of people .... into Nascar, Budweiser, fishing and "chilaxing". I've turned out to be a chef-quality cook and we love to entertain. We certainly don't live high on the hog, but we're happy as two peas in a pod and life is good. We have what we need and love what we have. Workwise, I've always worked in law firms as a legal assistant although I'm studying now for a career change to home staging. I would love to make something out of my ability to cook, but I'm afraid that suck all the joy out of it, so I'm just going to keep my fabulous kitchen skills for friends and family. We are well-settled in the Jacksonville area and have no plans to leave, but if you know us well enough to holler out, we'd love to have you down for a visit. I'm sure we'll have a party in your honor ... So, I'm not the star of the class by any means, and I'm still exactly the girl you remember ... up for a party and a good time and the heck with it all. Shout out ... I'd love to know what everyone is up to!
