Lynn's Story

Life She will probably be quiet if you see her outside of her natural habitat. Please, no flash photography... Always shy throughout her formative years, L Akers would avoid eye contact like the plague, and go home an cry for hours after being tormented by mean kids. Later on, to make up for this, she became quite opinionated and confrontational, but then settled down into a quiet humility that can only be maintained through prayer and thanksgiving, which is a lot more fun than it sounds. She lives a full and happy life now, and prefers anonymity, but wouldn't mind saying hello to an old friend from time to time. School Lynn Akers never got used to riding the school bus. She always felt uncomfortable being forced to sit so closely to strangers. To her, school was interesting, boring and torturous all at the same time. Independent studies in English, History, Foreign Language & Art may have led to academic greatness had she not been so bad at Math. But that wasn't really an option presented to her at that time. Painfully shy, she never really made too many friends until she got out of high school. (Then it was 6 different parties every weekend, and seeing so many bands she can't remember them all. Then, tiredness, then New Life.) Even still, the friends she did make were treasured. Listening to the Ramones, Violent Femmes, l.l. cool j. and Dead Milkmen at HH's house was one of the formative moments in her musical career (#1: First Beatles record. #2: GS bringing over Jimi Hendrix.). apes she wanted, and that GS was slightly interested in something besides hormonal conquests. Also: How would she have ever known the joy that is Byrun Reed had I not gone to GlenOak HS? For heaven's sake. And hello Arnie Bloom. Has anyone ever seen Jim Toppel wrestle Arnie Bloom in a yard in the late springtime? It is a sight to behold. Anyway, school seems like a movie she watched a long time ago, and that is alright with her. Life is beautiful, but school was like a prison sometimes. Always chained to the learning speed of others or mischeivous sidetracking of easy teachers that was amusing and frustrating at the same time, control issues of certain teachers or principals, rules, regulations, time schedules and being inside a building or waiting in the cold for a bus at ungodly hours. Not to mention the social rules and regulations your parents had to buy your way into. It was not so golden for someone who's parents couldn't buy you the right gym shoes because the transmission broke down that month. At the same time, there were fun parts and great teachers and good friends and life experiences. Without pressure, there would be no diamonds. Without crushing, there would be no wine. Without oppression, freedom would not feel like freedom, but rather mediocrity or nothingness. Without the Crucifixion, there would be no Ressurrection. Without Big Bird, there would be no Snuffaluffagus. (Or is that one the other way around....) College I took Archery for a minute....but it was just too early in the AM...I kind of wanted to live in Narnia.
