Ashley's Story

I'm a proud Christian wife & mom! I've come a long way since I was in school. Growing up I moved around a lot. My childhood was in Columbus, MS. I went to 3 different elementry while I was there, but I enjoyed school then and had a lot of fun. When I was 13 we moved to Valdosta, GA. It was so hard going to a new school where I knew no one at all. I was shy, short and well a nerd. lol I didn't enjoy school and was pretty fond of skipping in order to get out of it. I was at VJHS for 2yrs. By the second year I loved school, had tons of friends and was crushed to learn that we'd be moving again. All my friends were going to the local highschool and me . . . I was off to Centreville, VA. Again things were tough. I was in the 9th grade, no friends at all and still well looked like a nerd. lol It was really hard and I again was fond of skipping school so I didn't have to feel alone. I was painfully shy. The only joy I had at CHS was drama class & creative writing. I was pretty shy in those classes too, but I had an outlet. Again after 2yrs I moved. I was crushed! I had some more friends and my best friend in VA was well "cool". lol I compare her & I to "Wayne & Garth" from Wayne's world. I was Garth. lol But I was told we were moving back to GA. This time it was . . . Athens, GA & surprise I'm still here. Things were harder when I first moved here. All the moving put me into deeper depression. Long story short after a few short months at our local highschools I dropped out in 10th grade. This was also a suggestion from some doctors. I ended up on a local "mental" hospital twice. It helped some. I got my GED & guess what . . . I got married! I was just 18 & he was 26. We've been married for 14yrs now. He is a dream and wonderful man. We are blessed with 3 children. I'm a Christian homeschooling wife & mom. Yes, the girl who use to skip school now teachers her kids. It is a joy. I stay at home with my 3 kids. They are 11, 8 & 6. We've homeschooled from the start and feel it is what God wants us to do. Last year I learned I have a painful bladder disorder. It is called IC. Along with IC comes other painful disorders like: IBS, migraines, joint problems, allergy and sinus problems. But, as I till my kids things could be worse. God has healed me from depression, panic problems and ot...Expand for more
her issues. He is still working my life daily. I love teaching my kids about God's love and seeing Him work in their lives. Since I moved around a lot and dropped I am sad that I can't or really don't have a "Highschool Reunion" to go to. As a kid who moved around a lot I hold my childhood friends close to my heart. I am always wondering where they are and what happened to them. I may have known you for only 2yrs or less, but I am sure I remember you. I lost my year books in a move 7yrs ago. My husband assures me they are in our home somewhere, but they have yet to be found. I'm crushed about that too. Now I have no books with photos to help me locate my past school friends. School was hard. I laugh now that I was a "nerd" but since I'm an adult now I see it was due to moving a lot. Also I was hiding a deep secret. I was sexually abused while in MS. It was a childhood friend's stepfather. I blocked out the memories and they started slowly returning at about 14. So that too is one reason why I was so shy, depressed and skipped school. I had a lot of pain inside me. I do have a lot of fond memories too. I remember the kids were kind to me when I went to a new school. I remember the kids who let a strange girl sit at their lunch table. I remember joking, having crushes on boy's way out of my reach and I remember the teachers. Most of all I remember the kids. It is so hard moving around and going from school to school. I'm shocked when I filled out my profile here to see that from Grade 1 - till I dropped out in 1993 that I was in 7 different schools. Also it was hard to fill out my graduation year. I was born in 1975 so my grad year should have been around 1993 I think. But, I failed the 4th grade which moved it to more of 1993 I guess. Then with moving, skipping school and the stays in the "hospital" it moved it to 1994 when I was turning 19. So I am unsure about my grad year in some schools. All in all I think people would be surprised to see me now married, 3 kids and homeschool. I'm still short. I'm 5' 1" at the most. lol Plus after 3 kids I'm no longer bone thin. I have a lot more to love now. ; ) If you think you knew me, do remember or just not sure feel free to contact me. I was known in Elementary School as Ashley. But in jr. high & highschool I was known as Lynn. ; )
