Lynn's Story
Life
I moved from So. Cal. to an island NW of Seattle in 1986, then moved to Toronto (Ontario, Canada) in 1994. Moved to Montreal, Quebec in 2001 for 18 months but have been back in Toronto since then.
I've had many career changes, too. Started off in urban planning, then founded & co-owned a bicycle shop in the Pacific NW, became a registered massage therapist, then became a full-time writer (mainly health care) and editor. After doing the writing/editing (medical stuff) gig for about 6 years, worked for a Member of Provincial Parliament for a few years. Now I'm working for the Ontario government (still in Toronto) as a policy advisor working on policy and IT solutions to implement legislation that creates accessibility fo...Expand for more
r people with disabilities (similar to the Americans with Disabilities Act, but more comprehensive). I still do some occasional freelance writing and editing.
I like living in Toronto and love the change of seasons, but really miss the ocean, the beaches and the mountains of the West coast... My husband and I are working on finishing a 2-year (so far!) total gut and reno project on a house we bought. The house is still a work in progress, but it looks great and is super energy efficient. We're just a 15 min. walk from the beach, which keeps me sane when I'm stressed out.
I make it back to "the O.C." at least twice a year to visit my family (yes, my sister still teaches at Uni).
