Lynn Rinfret:  

Life has been an interesting journey, one I have grown both emotionally and spiritually. I have many interests. When I started out after High School I went to Emerson College in Boston. I wanted to be an actress, but was too shy to do the auditions so I studied Communications with a minor in Drama instead. After graduating, I moved back to Brewer and worked at Channel five, first in radio (with good ol' George Hale) and then went on to become News Director there. I moved to Boston and worked at Channel 38 and PBS until the mid 1980's when I moved to the island of Bonaire in the Carribean. My passion is animals. There was a lot of animal abuse on the island, so I went on a mission to begin an animal shelter. It took about five years. This was where and when I realized that not everyone thought like I did. What was important to me was not important to them. I learned a valuable lession that not everyone thinks like I do. So, I learned their culture and their language. The island now has a successful shelter with three Dutch veterinarians that rotate their time between there and Holland. I also love to dive, and went on to became a dive master.
