Lynne's Story

(I guess my old story is gone. Haven't checked here in a long time, so here's a new one Feb 5, 2009) I married at 18 after working as a Stenographer for Chevron research for only a few months (should have stayed there). I moved to a small town outside of Fresno where my husband was from. We have four sons, Shane 1968, Jason, 1970, Jared 1975, and Brad 1977. I left Fresno and returned to the Bay Area in 1998. Divorced around 2000. I have been traveling in between being caregiver for my dad, brother and a couple who became like parents to me as they had no children. I love New York and New Orleans. I tend to return often to the places I love. This year as I did last year, I will spend October in CT and visit New York while I'm there. I will also be taking a month-long trip to Germany (I'm attending a Convention in Munich) so my friend and I will travel on down to Italy. Can't wait. Never been to Europe because there is so much to see in the US. My grandkids are my hobby. :>) They say they'll take care of me when I'm old......er. I will be retiring up in the mountains above Oroville, CA to our family home my grandfather built the turn of the century. That will be this year or next year. That will be quite a project to remodel the house, but it will be fun. A huge yard to transform into a beautiful garden before I get too old. I have some back problems.....Age :>) I've connected with so many classmates since I came back to the Bay Area. My school days were definitely some of my happiest. I liked everybody and still do. I'll report in when I'm back from my trips this year. May 2011 Conintued...... Let's see...Grandkids are still my hobby My time spent with them on their vacations is the highlight of my year every year. Haven't retired to my house in NorCal yet. Had an awsome time in NY and CT 2009. I rented a house in CT on Candlewood lake for a month and had friends coming and going during the month. We even took the train from Manhattan up to Niagara Falls. If I ever go again I will stay on the Canada side. It's much more appealing, but the falls were breathtaking! We took the boat trip that takes you right to the falls. Deafening! Just amazing! Central Park was so pretty in October. Lots of activities there too. Went to the Today show with a sign saying hello to my grandkids. Hard to get up that early but always worth it. It ended up getting rained out that morning. But a rainy day in NY is fun. It was during this trip that NY chef Rocco was doing a book signing in the plaza and I got a picture with him. He was also on Dancing With The Stars that week.. It's a good thing he can cook! The trip to Europe was the trip of a lifetime. Began with my convention in Munich, an International Convention of Jehovhah's Witnesses. While there traveled over to Bavaria area. Then onto France, Switzerland (a brief trainride thru) Then the last two weeks traveling in Italy. Amalfi coast was amazingly beautiful! We stayed at beautiful hotel overooking the water in Positano. The day of our trip to Capri I was sick, so my friend, Chris, went and was able to get into the Blue Grotto, which isn't always possible because of weather conditions. It has to be very still. So I missed out on probably m...Expand for more
y one and only time to do that. BUT she got some pictures. Florence, Venice & Rome have their charm too. But if I go back to Europe I will spend more time in Germany. So pristine and the food was delicious! Food in Italy was GOOD, but German food YUM! Well I am German after all. My family came from Baden Baden & I even have a picture in front of a store BACHER Pretty cool! Then we took a Rhine River cruise in Germany. Saw many of the historic castles! The food on that cruise was fantastic. For our meals we were seated with the only three other English speaking passengers on the boat. It was a couple that live in the South of France and the wife's mother visiting from the US. The last trip I've taken was back to NY and CT for a couple of weeks in April of last year 2010. A friend and myself went. Did a couple of things I'd never done there before. Our last night there we had dinner at the Russian Tea Room and then right next door took in a concert at Carnegie Hall. A young violinist. He was sooooo talented. Those concerts are nice because they are affordable but top notch talent! We then walked back to our hotel. I love to stay in Manhattan 'cause you can cab or walk every place! Ummm well, I built a brand new small custom place in Fresno. Just finished it. I decided to have a place there as well as here in the Bay Area AND the keep the family home in NorCal but not live there fulltime as the weather is pretty difficult for an old lady in the winter =) Guess that's the latest news in my life. Where does the time go? Hope all my "old" classmates are well and happy. September 26, 2012 Guess it's time for an update. Most recent news . . . . . .I am alive and mostly well and attended my 45th . . . 45th! reunion last Saturday night. And I am hoping to network and find more classmates so we can make our 50th the biggest and best yet! After all, I hear we had the largest graduating class ever at RUHS. So if we all work together to find eachother it will be SO FUN. Like I used to tell my dad when he would go to his reunions, "Old people are funny" . . . . . And we are fun! So I'm gonna start searching for people and I hope others will help me out. The email address for keeping our contact intormation updated is: ruhsclassof1967 at gmail dot com So, last time I checked in and updated was a little over a year ago. At that time I had built a little place in Fresno. I didn't get moved in until June of this year. When you're old it takes awhile to do things. I took my yearly trip to New York in May. Trips aren't as easy as they used to be (the bad back). But I always have a great time. And, of course, having my grandkids in the summer is always a highlight for me. Two have now moved to Arizona with their mother and step dad, so I don't see them as often. That makes the time with them in the summer even more precious! My oldest grandson is 17 now. My youngest is 13. A highlight this year was definitely at our reunion because I saw one of my very BFF's at the reunion. I hadn't seen Cathy Ranger for 30 years! Very special! I'm sure there are friends we have all been hoping to see again after we graduated. So let's work together and find our friends........Until next update . . . . .
