Lynne's Story

lynneg65atyahoo Some of my fondest memories from high school really aren't good things, but it was a lot of fun. I was definitely a party girl back then, but I was a good student (it came easy for some reason). Back then, growing up in Cincy, if you knew someone who could get you in at P&G or GE, then you were set for life. Who needed college, right? Perhaps one of the greatest things about my friends, and maybe my generation, is that we are adaptable survivors. Our parents preached the lessons of the The Great Depression, and our brothers and uncles served in Vietnam. We lived and learned that you had to work hard to earn it. I remember exam days at Milford High School. Smoking and drinking next door in the church yard. How did we not get caught?! Listening to Pink Floyd and cruising Rt. 50, being extra careful around dead man's curve, because we all lost friends to that damn place -- horrifically. Hanging out at The Dark Side of the Moon, IF you could get your car up that damned hill. And we were convinced that The House of the Rising Sun out in Batavia was a real-life Amityville Horror house! Who could forget those incredible weekends at Rusty's parents' campsite out in Ripley? Rinks. Frontier Days. Live Oaks. AC DC. Van Halen. Zeppelin. Heart. Bad Company. Fleetwood Mac. Peter Frampton. Journey. Wow, we had some great music, didn't we? They'd serve you at the bar if you were "cool", and if I remember correctly, the helmet law was changed while I was in high school. I recall how great it was to be able to r...Expand for more
ide without one. My friends...Beth Emery...RIP - we will always love you. Deby "Dooby" Clements. Rusty Smith. Vicki Sellers. Mary Lucas - no she didn't go to Milford, but she hung out with us. Robin Jordan. Robin Wilson. Carol "what's good for the body is good for the soul, and vice versa" Askren. Kamille Messer. Scott Plumber. Mary Myer. The other "Lynne" Lewis. Mr. Neimeyer - the coolest psych teacher ever. Walking in one direction around the circle of the middle school or getting in trouble. Now that was crazy! And who was that science teacher who shocked all of us with that current ball thingy of his? So many others. Where'd you all go? Hoping to find out. I moved to Florida, not necessarily by choice, between my junior and senior years. Had to finish high school without the companionship of my friends, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Lived in Ormond/Daytona for a while, then inland to Orlando. Partied more, more bad choices. Moved back to Ohio for a year, lived in Reading and worked at CE. Then, recruited back to Orlando to help launch a construction supply firm. Those were good days. Married, had two great kids, divorced, then moved back to Ohio again. This time Cleveland. Have been here ever since. I'm now a marketing manager for a global packaging manufacturer. The kids are all grown up and making much better choices than I did. I'm still in touch with Beth's family, Rusty, Vicki and Mary, and am hoping to find a few more of you through this site. I miss you all! Hope life has been good to you!
