Lynnie's Story
Life
After graduation, I worked at Sears for four years but I hadn't found my niche and then I had a four year stint in the US Air Force. I lived in Michigan for a short time (attending Kalamazoo Valley Community College) and then came back to Chicago where I started my career with the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). I helped veterans file for benefits and later supervised the personal interview and telephone units of our customer service section. I love our veterans and it was truly an honor for me to serve them for many years.
I married my childhood sweetheart in July 2003 after 34 years apart. I have one grown son and my husband has three grown sons and three grown daughters..

I know that have been blessed.
On November 20, 2009, I retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs with 30 years of service (26 years there plus 4 years of military service). God has really blessed me to be able to retire at this point in time in my life and now I'll be able to pursue some of my dreams, i.e., finishing my education and writing, and taking some more cruises.
On September 5, 2012. my husband and I moved to Charlotte, NC (along with my 91 year old mother). We found a builder and with the help of the GI BILL had our retirement home built and we moved in July 22, 2013. We both love it here and look forward to many years of warmer weather, relaxing and travel.
