Madelyn's Story
Life
I worked and went to school for many years after high school. I spent many years in management in the health food manufacturing field, in Arizona, California and Utah. I traveled quite a bit with work, and personal. I went to Europe for a summer, and spent time in Mexico and Canada, as well as all over America. I was ready to give up my career when I had my family. My husband Vince and I have 4 children, and now have 11 grandchildren. We live in Utah, but have moved several times, to Maryland, Memphis, and New York. We kept moving back to Utah. I spend most of my time with my family, especially my grandchildren. I also run my husbands business and do volunteer work. Our oldest daughter, Ellora, has 5 boys. In 1999 our oldest son John went on a mission for the LDS Church to Hungary, and our family traveled there. We also went to the Ukraine where my husband's family is from. Both of our sons are in the Army. Our oldest son, John, has been on 3 deployments, our youngest son, David, on 1 to Iraq. Our youngest child, Rebekah, spent a few years in Gilbert, AZ, before she finally ...Expand for more
had her health problems properly diagnosed and had 2 major surgeries. She moved home for her heart surgery, and is now well enough to go to college and move on with her life, got her own place this month. The thing I have enjoyed most, other than my family, is volunteering with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for over 20 years now. My husband has worked at several universities, as well as having his own business, so I have been able to continue taking classes. I haven't made it to any of our Mesa High reunions. I was giving birth to our first child, Ellora, the month of our 10 year reunion in 1977. I was very pregnant with our last child and couldn't travel, when the 20 year reunion was held in 1987. If there have been other reunions, I haven't heard of them.
Workplace
I left my management position in the manufacturing field when I wanted to raise my family. My husband has his own business and I have run that for about 35 years. I also substitute taught. I have spent many years in Church jobs and in volunteer work. I have worked in Boy and Girl Scouting for over 20 years.
