Maia's Story
I have two great daughters! (The younger one was born 10 days after my 40th birthday--what a great birthday present!). My older daughter is a M.D. and the younger one has an Honors Degree in Philosophy--but she's not sure yet what to do with that. My daughters seem to reflect the two sides of my own interests: insatiable curiousity about everything scientific, and my love of the humanities and the arts. In terms of why I'm in Columbus, Ohio: After high school, I attended the U of MN. ool at the "U" as a Teaching Assistant. After one year, I received a full Fellowship (free tuition, books, and a small stipend) and worked on my Ph.D. As soon as I graduated (1972), I got the position at Ohio State University. (I'm really weary of hearing "Go Buckeyes" or "Go Bucks"!) I retired after 35 years of teaching. I've had two wonderful German Shepards-one when my daughters were little, and one more recently--who, unfortunately, died of a rare disease to which German Shepards are suseptible. He was only 8. I'm considering getting another one because that breed is fantastic!
In terms of the rest of my life: I married in 1969 and divored in 1991; but Robert and I continue to be great friends. I enjoy sleeping late, being lazy, and having time to do whatever I want! And I am really looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion!
