Maia's Story
Life
I married Nat Martin, another Skiddie (class of '98), on July 19th 2003. We have a guinea pig named Ernie (for Ernie and Bert) and a dwarf rabbit named Django (for the guitarist Django Reinhart). We hope to own our own home in the next year or two so that we can get a dog. I have been teaching at Barbieri Elementary in Framingham since my graduation from Tufts. I have taught 1 year of Kindergarten and am finishing my second year of Second grade. Nat is completing his fifth year of teaching high school art at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School.
College

revious summer. Though I enjoyed the creative aspects of this job I knew it was not the career for me. I went back to school at Tufts University to get my master degree and initial teaching liscense. I now have an MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) in Child Development and am about to get my professional liscense in early elementary education with special education liscense certifying me to teach pre-k to 2nd grade including children with special needs as soon as the DOE tells me what paperwork they still need.
I find teaching to be the most reward, but also exhausting and stressful things I have ever been part of.
I am considering returning to school to get a PhD in Child Development and Public Education or Child Psychology or some combo. I have yet to figure this out.
