Met the pretty girl in the photo in Oct. '56 at church league basketball and fast pitch softball. She had a steady guy so had to do something special. I bought a new '56 chevy took her out then had her name pinstriped on the dash by Ed "Big Daddy Roth", she agreed to future dates! We've been married for almost 54 years so far... 3 kids, 9 grandkids, 5 great-grand-kids later & we're still in love. Bought another '56 chevy in '06 that I restored to look like the original, keeping it tuned and show-ready keeps me out of trouble. Yep, the dash is just like the original. We live in the "Land of Gracious Living", Yorba Linda. Still very active in church, except can't play like in '56. Maybe we should start roller skating like we did in the 50's. Still get together occasionally with some of our classmates for lunch. Drove the chevy to the Quiet Cannon the night before the big event. Many wanted to get their pictures taken in it, especially in the back seat. Some even mentioned climbing into the trunk, but there aren't any drive-in theaters for us to sneak into that way anymore. After MHS I worked for North American Aviation, then Union Pacific Railroad as a draftsman. Always had another job or 2 on the side for extra gas and date money. After UPRR I settled down, becoming a Thrifty Drug Store manager in Altadena. Money was good but 70 to 80 hours a week was rediculous. As the youngest mgr in the ...Expand for more
