Manuel's Story
Life
After I left Bushwick in 1977, I went into the army. Did my basic training at Ft Dix, New Jersey then went to Ft Eustis Virginia for Aviation School. From Ft Eustis, I got sent to my first overseas tour to Germany where I traveled a good part of Europe at the Army's expense. While in Germany, I got my first and only dear john letter (lol) from my high school sweetheart. uld marry 7 years down the road. in 1984, I returned to the US and was stationed at Ft Hood, Texas where my first and only child (a girl) was born. In 1989, I went back to Germany for my 2nd European Tour. While Stationed in Germany, I saw the IRON CURTAIN fall apart. In December of that year, we deployed to Saudi Arabia for Desert Storm/Shield. After my return from the desert, I was returned to the US and stationed at Ft Campbell, Ky where I retired with 21 years of active military service. Upon retirement, I went to work for the Tennessee Prison System where I worked in a Maximum Security Unit containing Death Row. In 1998, I got offered a job at Ft Campbell, Kentucky and have been here since. I've tried to keep in touch with a few of the friends I had in Bushwick as well as a few of the teachers and councelors that I had the priviledge of knowing. The hardest thing for me to find out was the Death of Ms Rosa Romano. She was a fine teacher/councelor and Friend.
