ender young age of 17. I celebrated my eighteenth birthday with a Mass of beer in my hand toasting the Queen of Bavaria at the Oktoberfest in Munich. Imagine knowing that the fate of the free world was in the hands of some dumb teenager at the height of the Cold War! I was issued a weapon (M60A3 56-ton main battle tank) and I stood the post.
