Marcella's Story
In school I was easily missed and was small enough for people to stuff me into my locker.. which DID happen! Shy, shy, and more shy.... but could run fast enough to out distance anyone chasing me. Loved reading and would read anything out loud to anyone who would sit and listen to me! LOL.
As I grew up I realized that I could actually TALK to people, and they'd talk back.. wonders of wonders!
A favorite pass time was to memorize songs no one had every heard of and sing them to people...The Little Blue Man, The Telephone man, 16 little red noses and a horses sweat, (and YES there is actually a song out by that name!) amoung others.
Moved from ILLINOIS TO TENNESSEE when I met my husband, where I found my calling.... ran a shelter from my home for 15 years. Learned to groom and clip the strays, had them fixed, and put them up for adoption. Took on local goverment and harrassed them until decent shelters were built.. (think they built the Coffee County shelter JUST to get me out of their meeting... only took 3 years of going to every ...EVERY meeting they ever had!)
Still married to the same man after 40 years.. went through my HATE years, of course... but made it through with everything going great now!
BUT there was a time I walked up to him told him I hated HIM, TENNESSE, his whole family, and especially his MAMA!!! BUT.. I WASN'T going to divorce him so he could go mess up someone elses life.. that I was going to give him 5 years of crap and after that would decide whether I was going to free him to ever be happy!!
"Sigh" but now... the man adores me and I him... I come home and he not only has supper waiting.. he waits on me hand and foot... even does dishes.. AND Laundry!!!.. and gives ME his whole paycheck!!!! I, in return, hide my money through out my purse and once a week he gets to go through and try to find it. Kinda like a treasure hunt... he hates it when I go back through and find a couple of hundred he missed!
At age 36 had ...Expand for more
a series of major strokes.. lost all the right side and all ability to talk... now I could DO without the arm and leg.. BUT DANG!! The NOT talking about drove me crazy!!! Spent over 8 weeks living in a rehab center.... then continued for about another 6 months.
Have recovered the voice and speech and the the biggest portion of my mobility, but have had to learn how to fall.... spent 2 weeks in rehab learning just that... all my freinds have learned that I can go DOWN and be back UP before they even realize I went down! LOL Scares the beejesus out of people who don't know me though !
Hubby opened me another grooming shop a couple of years ago... said I was watching "TO MUCH" Judge Judy, Judge Mathis, Judge Joe Brown, Divorce court, Court TV, Animal Cops, Forensic Files, Cheater's, AND SNAPPED (the true stories and forensic about women who have snapped and klilled their husbands etc,,)... I was beginning to think I "could" kill him and hide the body if I was of mind to do so!!!
Now I FIGURED I wasn't watching Jerry Sringer OR the Soaps so I was jussstttt fine!
I now have 5 grandbabies.... MUCH more fun then raising your own kids. My daughter Stephanie has Alden, Alex, Johnathon, and the baby Jordan. 4 boys that live across the street from us, on a dead end street.... we have deer galore and sometimes they come into the back yard!
My son Steven has his one daughter, Sierra, who also lives right next door... so that everyones with-in a stones throw!
As you can tell I am no longer shy, and if you think I typed alot (all one fingered typing cause I flunked typing in school) it's nothing to the stories I tell when I have a captive audience... love meeting new people that HAVEN'T heard all of my stories!!
One of my fav sayings.... Before judging someone walk a mile in their shoes...that way your a mile away and have THEIR shoes!!
There was the time that my boss suggested that I get into a 401K.... but ... I didn't think I could run that far!
