Marcia's Story
School
I loved many of my teachers and was most impacted by Mrs. Burgess and Mrs. Clare who taught me shorthand, typing, and office machines; also, Ms. Betty Wade who taught me Spanish.
I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were somewhat right. I majored in secondary education with the intent to teach Spanish to high school aged kids. I only did that in a substitute role.
I ended up being involved more in adult education and developing and teaching adults in many disciplines. So yes, a teacher, but not as I originally thought nor my friends and family originally thought. Life is like that!

ys for the Army Air Corps (now Air Force). I spent my youth growing up across the United States. My sister was born in Cocoa Beach, FL and my brother was born in Omaha, NE. I went to many schools starting Kindergarten in CA, first in NC, second-fourth in MD, fifth-beginning of ninth in NE, ninth in VA and NJ, 10 in NJ and VA and graduated from King George High in 1968. I went to Radford College from 1968 to 1970. I met Paul, my husband in the summer of 1969 the day before man walked on the moon and I have been moon walking with him since. We got married in August of 1970 and I transferred to Old Dominion University and completed by B.S. in education in 1972. Wow! What a quick synopsis of 22 years of my life. That one is all around education. I could tell it another way too. Maybe I will on the next update.
