Marcia's Story
Marcia Mattson. Hmm, I think I will be remembered as kind of quiet, I was in band, liked to have fun but wasn't involved in too many school activities. After a semester at GTC (as it was called back then) for Police Science, I went to Parkside for a semester. Then I got a job in a factory as Quality Control Inspector and did that for the next 13 years. Partied a lot in that time. Hey, it was the 70's and 80's, what can I say? I went on to get a degree as a Registered Nurse, married John Ewing in 1993. He is a Shift Commander for Winthrop Harbor Police Dept. (with only 4 yrs til retirement!) niece's 18 month old daughter who lives with us. Talk about a major life change, this would have been a whole lot easier 10 or 15 yrs ago ! I would enjoy hearing from old, make that 'former' classmates. I missed a couple of reunions and am hoping to be able to make it to our 35th.
My first job was at McDonald's, where I got paid $1.90/hr to sell burgers, what else?. What I remember most about it is getting caught up on the roof with a co-worker (we climbed the ladder in back) flicking pea gravel at unsuspecting customers. Oops. Luckily the manager on that night had a crush on me and we both just got a stern talking to. Ha!. Thank you Story Wizard for the opportunity to share that fiasco.....
