Marcie's Story
UPDATE 12/08
I am serving on President Elect Barack Obama's transition team, as a member of the Justice and Civil Rights Team. Its been an incredible experience. I am also now the Execuitive Director of the National Coalition for Disability Rights.
Its been a rough year in many ways. My best friend died on Oct 13th, then my college roommate on Oct 24th and then my dad, on November 25th. All died very suddenly.
Its been a year of very high highs and very low lows. Through it all, I am very fortunate to have wonderful kids, a wonderful family and a wonderful new man in my life who has been very supportive and lots of fun!
My Life
I live just north of Washington DC in Montgomery Village, MD. I am very involved in civil rights issues and politics (Obama 08 - YES WE CAN!!). I travel a lot, love lots of live music, movies, museums, my treadmill and poker with my friends.
During 2007, I traveled over 70,000 miles to Qatar (in the Middle East), Germany, Austria, Hong Kon...Expand for more

My Kids
Jessa is 24 and graduated from the U of Maryland in May and will start grad school in Sept. Dustin is 16 and a senior. He is doing a second summer internship at NASA/Goddard in the Robotics Lab, working on the robotic arm that will fix the Hubbell Telescope in space next year. He plans to study computer engineering.
My Job
I am the executive director and CEO of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association, a large national membership organization of/for people with spinal cord injuries (SCI) and diseases causing paralysis. There are over a half-million Americans living with SCI and 11,000 new injuries every year. Visit spinalcord dot org for more information. I am also involved in emergency management for people with disabilities and international disability rights issues.
My Pets
We have 2 cats and 2 geckos. We've previously had lots of dogs & cats, hamsters, mice, frogs, fish, etc.
