Mardi's Story

A few people wanted to know my story, so here is a little of my story~I went to San Diego State right after high school and graduated 4 years later in Education and Early Education with a minor in geography. My husband at the time wanted to change direction in his life, so we moved back to the South Bay, where he became a fireman and I finished up my degree. I was married to John Bibee(Mira Costa 1971) for 10 years before we divorced. We had 2 girls, ages 1 and 2, at the time. I was too young to get married in the first place and if I do say so myself, a little immature! Luckily wisdom creeps in as you grow in age and in spirit!! I got married again, to Dave Berry, and we have been married for 27 years, and I was very lucky to find such a kind and beautiful soul!! We both love to travel and have been many places around the world. I decided when I had some major health issues ( cancer a few times and a stroke) , that I was going to see as much as I could, before I could not any longer! We have been blessed with seeing many wonderful places and having a lot of FUN doing it!! I just LOVE to see the world and its people! Some of my favorite places are Tahiti, Turkey, the Azores and I could never forget Italy!! I just love everything about Italy! The people, the culture, the history and, of course, the wine!!! We have been on 16 cruises ( I know a little crazy), and hope to go on many more! When it comes to children, I was one of the VERY lucky ones!!! We have 2 daughters, ages 28 and 29, and they are both remarkable human beings!!! I would like to say I had a lot to do with it, but that would not be true! I just helped and so did my husband Dave. Although they are not biologically his children, no one would ever know it!! He has devoted his life to making them happy, productive, loving and healthy adults, and we could not be prouder!!! Our eldest, Jamie, is married and has 4 children, and is one of the most wonderful mothers I know (besides me of course HA HA) She is an ER nurse, and lives in Oregon (where we live), so I get to interfere in her life every once in awhile, and really enjoy spoiling our grandchildren! Being a grandmother is absolutely wonderful as many of you probably agree! Our youngest, Erin, is a doctor and is at Emory University Hospitals in Atlanta doing her specialty residency in adolescent OB/GYN, where she is in her third year! She will come back to...Expand for more
the northwest next year, when she finishes residency, so we are really impatient for that to happen! SHE IS WHO I WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN!! Dave and I moved to Bend, Oregon almost 20 years ago for many reasons! Mostly to get away from my family and the drama that my husband could not stand! Honestly, it was a wonderful move and I would not change a thing! I love Oregon so very much! It is BEAUTIFUL, and where ever we go, we really look forward to coming home! Oregon is a remarkable place to live your life!! The people are kind, the scenery is breathtaking and I really like having seasons and the changes and birth and re-birth it creates!! I owned a small preschool in California, and when we moved to Oregon I owned a Toy Store and Educational Supply store for 17 years. I sold it in 2006 when my husband's job relocated us to Portland from Bend, Oregon. I kept my store for a year, but the 3 hour drive back and forth to Bend a few times a month and missing my husband was too much! I decided to sell it in 2008, and I really miss it! My husband is in the car business. He works for Honda Corporation and also for Airstream. He loves working, and one of his only faults is he is a "workaholic"!! I am not sure if he will ever retire, but I can always get him away from work for a few trips a year! Being retired is a little boring for me so I hope to change that in 2011!! My life has been wonderful!! I wish I could take back a few things I have done and said, but if I did, maybe I would not have learned from them! I LOVE being a mother and would not give back one single second of it! Although I screwed up my first marriage, I have been blessed and very lucky with the second. I never saw myself being divorced, but part of life, is the mystery of its future! You never know!! Going to 2 different high schools, due to my father's car accident as many of you know about, I am curious about many different people, and I hope to hear from a few of them! I am happy to say I am a different person than I was in high school. A little of me remains, but life and its journey has blessed me with wisdom, and I hope given me a kinder soul! I have become independent, curious, grateful, a little sassy and hopefully people might say a loving and caring person! That is at least my hope! Thanks to all of you who were "curious" and I hope to meet up with you again one day!!! cook and travel
