Margaret's Story
I left school in 1962 and graduated from Mercy College of Detroit in 1966 with a bachelors degree in nursing. I joined the Army Nurse Corps while a senior in college, served in Vietnam in 1967& 1968, and following my discharge returning to Detroit after the riots. I then worked southeast Detroit as a public health nurse until I married Ralph in 1969. His career took us Chicago, where I again worked as a public health nurse. e in nursing and taught at a local nursing school. When we returned to MI I taught at U of M, then at Saginaw Valley State University, from which I retired in 1978. Along the way I earned my PhD and achieving the rank of professor. Ralph and I now have 2 married sons & 4 grandchildren. We live in a condo in White Lake Township.
