Margaret's Story
I have two great boys, Ethan, 19 and George, 23. Ethan has just begun college, only one year, and George is on his way out, he's finished his course work and now getting ready to write his thesis for his masters degree. My husband, Jorge, their dad, died of cancer in 2001, a terrible loss, but we pulled together and created a small little tough family. They're great, loving boys, and I'm very lucky. I've been teaching dance since I was in the 10th grade, still love it. When I graduated from high school, there was no way to get the education I needed in a traditional college setting, so I studied in NYC, LA, and Chicago, mostly. It's been a wonderful career, never boring in all of these years, and even though that's not the ultimate goal at my studio, many of my students have gone on to professional ...Expand for more
careers, or opened their own studios. I'm now teaching 2nd generation families. It's been quite a journey, and I still love it.
I've been in touch with Carl Hiaasen at the beginning, not so much anymore. Connie Hiaasen many times over the years, but again, not lately, Donna Simmons about 10 years ago, for just a little while. Debbie Wilkenson, and gratefully, my friend from childhood, Sherry Walton quite a bit.
I was lucky in high school to be friendly with so many different classmates. I dove seriously into my career and I've never been good at keeping in touch, but I'm hoping to reconnect over the reunion. I really liked so many of my classmates, and I'm looking forward to hearing all of their stories too! My whole group of guy friends, so sweet, funny and a blast to be with, where are you guys?
