Margaret's Story
I grew up in Seattle, WA, and first moved to Washington DC for 2 years because my father was elected to the House of Representatives from the 1st congressional district in Seattle. At the beginning of the 7th grade, I moved to Cleveland, OH, to attend the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades at Addison Jr. High. I left Cleveland in 1956 after graduating from Addison and moved "home" to Seattle, WA. Upon graduating from Queen Anne High School, I got married and had 2 children - Robert & Rebecca. Because Seattle's economy was slow, we moved to California. While there, I worked for many banks in Venice, Santa Monica, San Francisco and Santa Cruz. or to retiring in 2007, I worked for a vocational rehab company, a global training company, and an architect's office. My children both live just a few minutes away. Robert is a software engineer and Becky is a mechanical engineer and has a master's degree in physics. She has a daughter, Kasey. In 1994, Ron Gillette, who attended QA in 1957-58, and I married. We are licensed therapeutic foster parents for high-risk, school-age children and provide respite care for many foster children. I love to travel and have visited Nicaragua, Mexico, England, France, Italy, Switzerland and Ireland. More recently we took a cruise through the Panama Canal and visited the Honduras, Columbia, Guatemala, and Costa Rica.
