Jackie's Story
Life
A very quick, "after H.S. grad." bio:
After graduation, I continued my studies at Western State College in Gunnison, CO. While completing my undergraduate degree, I teamed up with a talented young man, Teddy Schenck, creator of ÂCustom Antler Products who taught me how to make antler jewelry. We joined Regional Craft Fairs to display and sell our unique products. In the mid 70Âs we were invited to the Oval Office to present President Gerald Ford with an antler pipe for his pipe collection.
After college, I moved to Steamboat Springs, CO where I spent the next 5 years as a river guide on the Colorado River with ÂColorado AdventuresÂ. In the winter, I skied and performed music in a restaurant on the mountain.
During my Steamboat years, I had an opportunity to sail down to the Caribbean as a cook on the 60 ft. Schooner, ÂThe AppledoreÂ. The first two months were spent as a ÂSeamester for a class of college students followed by private trips throughout the Caribbean.
In 1984, I followed my musical dream back to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. I completed the Certificate Program in Song Writing and Professional Music, met my future husband Bob Landry, and joined his band called ÂThe LawÂ. We performed in the Leominster & Gardner, MA area in local clubs and restaurants for two years before the band broke up.
Immediately following my student experience, I was hired to work in the Office of Admissions at Berklee and spent the next eleven years, working my way up to Assistant Director of Admissions. Bob and I were married in 1990 and Bob completed three degrees at Berklee and is currently Director of Music at Samoset Middle School in Leominster.
In 1997, our 2nd child, Jackson, was born and I became a stay at home mother. My ...Expand for more
song writing genre had already shifted to childrenÂs songs in 1993/94 while I was pregnant with our daughter, Taylor. ÂMamaÂs Lullaby was my first childrenÂs song and this new writing style quickly took off and is still going strong. I currently have 1 CD with 13 original childrens songs and am working on a 2nd CD. For me, time in our recording studio extremely limited with so many other responsibilities.
In the Fall of 2002, I was offered a job by Francis Wada, Conductor of the Thayer Symphony Orchestra, in Leominster, MA, to create a childrenÂs music program for the new Community Music School of Thayer Symphony Orchestra. Since then, My Minizicians Program continues to grow and mature into a truly original, refreshing and educational course where children and adults can learn, share, and enjoy quality time together.
Most recently, January, 2007, Bob and I have updated our recording studio to enable us to make DVD productions of my Minizicians Program; in classes, on-site visits to local established schools, libraries, etc. and stage performances.
I am also in the process of setting up a podcast site where I have little snippits of some of my songs from my 1st. CD. To listen, you can go to podbean.com and look up Minizicians. If you search on the Web using Minizicians, there are a few sites that pop up including the podbean site. My poding experiences are so limited at the moment, I have a ways to go before I feel it is complete, so, many changes are certain to come.
My CD's are only available through contacting me directly, so if you want one, I'll be happy to send it to you. The cost is $15.99 (includes shipping). For speedy delivery, call me at (978) 534-3268. I rarely have time to check my email on a regular basis. Ciao for now, Jackie
