Margaret's Story

Wow! It's been over 40 years since graduation. I've been teaching and playing music all these years, and have owned a Violin Shop, Wind and Brass Shop and now reside out of California. My husband and I have 7 grandchildren so far. I am pleased to reacquaint with my classmates after all these many years. I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea idea. As it turns out, they were right. My "now" picture (2007) is of me with 6 of my 7 grandchildren. Bjorn's Norwegian Mother took him out of the United States in 1999 and we haven't seen him but 10 short hours since then. He was born in 1996. His Mother moved him to Australia, and he has a stepfather that is teaching him that my son is not a good father, but that is not true. So we hope someday this situation will change. Norway did not honor its Hague Convention agreement with the United States to return American children abducted to another nation other than the nation of their birth. Bjorn was born in the US. Bjorn's Father and our Family is out of money for legal help in having him returned and forcing the situation to be corrected according to the law. Bjorn's Mother withheld information from Norwegian Court that she knew existed that would have influenced Norway's to be contrary to its current status. We did not find this out until after Norwegian Supreme Cour...Expand for more
t made their final decision and since then the Court is unwilling to look into the situation further. Meanwhile, Bjorn is (at this writing) now 14, and has not had more than 10 hours with his 3 siblings since 1999. We think that is a terrible injustice. We hope that as Bjorn grows up he will realize his own responsibility to his brother and sisters and get on over here to be with them and his Father, in the country of his birth. The following are my answers to "Story Wizard" questions: What I do to lower my stress level: Play some music! (no surprise, huh?) The wildest thing I ever did in school was to throw at pencil at Mr. Lorcher in American History class when he seemed to be making put downs on the weaker gender during his discussion of women's suffrage. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is George Holland because we were musician friends in high school and I wrote a special Concerto for him to play on his baritone. But he died nearly 20 years ago, so that won't be happening. The weirdest job I ever had was playing the organ for the "White House", a hospital ward for the mentally disturbed. I lasted 2 days, at minimum wage, because they would come up and tell me they had to go somewhere, OUT of the hospital, and some others would shreik out a scream out of nowhere, and that made me feel, at age 21 like I WAS IN THE WRONG PLACE for me.
