Margie Kuoha:

CLASS OF 1973
Lakeside, CA

Margie's Story

Well a lot has happened since 1973. I started working at the Lakeside Post Office right out of high school and worked there for 13 years. Then I quit to be a stay home Mom to our 3 daughters. My ex and I owned and operated an interstate trucking company so as soon as school was out we jumped on the truck and came home in time to start school again. We summered in particular areas of the US each summer so the girls would be saturated with the culture of that particular area. After the divorce I refused to get a "real" job and miss out on all that I did with the girls. I coached them in softball, basketball and volleyball, was room Mom, swim Mom, gymnastics Mom, field trip Mom and more. So I started a bookkeeping and tax prep business out of the home so I could get my girls off to school, hit the desk, then put it away when they returned. I didn't miss a thing. What a joyful time that was. After my youngest graduated and finished with sports I took a job for ME. I was the Head of Operations at the House of Hospitality in Balboa Park for 8 years. ond in command of the restoration of the House of Hospitality and worked with the city engineers, architects and historians. What a project to be part of! And a lot of hard work. But what an experience. All of the comp tickets to the museums, theaters, etc. My family and I enjoyed that time a lot. Then my oldest went through a divorce and I moved them in with me for a bit, started my business again and was a stay home "Mimi" to my two oldest grandchildren. What great joy that was. I've let that go through the years and am working for a small bookkeeping and tax prep company now. But always looking for the next adventure. I've thought often of my time at El Cap, and the friends and good times. We lived in a great time. And my children have always enjoyed sitting around and listening to my stories from school. Good times. And I still get together once or twice a week with Nancy (Brown)Smith. Girls night, dinner and a movie.....life is very good. I wish all of you well, and hope the years have been as wonderful to you as they have to me. Margie
