B I O G R A P H Y
My name is Margie Linn Flake, the 6th sibling of Elbert Flake and Rosie Booker; I was born October 15, 1946, I was told that my oldest brother did the honors of providing me with this name. I am from Memphis, TN where I attended high school, graduated in 1964, With little money I decided to leave Memphis and venture to Detroit, MI; on my trip to this city I meet my husband on that bus (Greyhound) we were married 30 years when he was killed in an head on accident. From this union I had two (2) children Marcus Wilson and Shirletta Flake, but actually, the mother of many children through my childrenÂs years as teenagers and young adults. My son graduated from college Magnum Cum Laude and Valedictorian. My daughter attended trade school; she now holds a high position with a prestigious company in the city of Detroit. I am also the grandmother of 6 grandchildren ranging in ages from 12 years to 8 months and I love every one of them.
I am now an inactive RN, but attaining this position was tedious and trying, but I did it; due to becoming a one-parent family. The inactive status is due to an aneurysm I sustained in December 2000, which left me with right sided weakness, partial blindness of the right eye and forgetfulness.

kground includes many years in school; trying to decide what exactly I wanted out of life or what career was right for me. This included an accountant apprentice, medical assistant, court officer, legal secretary, cashier and finally Registered Nurse. I appeared to be doing well with this last position, and then the aneurysm occurred. This put a hold on everything; I had to learn how to walk again, remember things and how to drive. When I finished the my physical therapy I could walk, drive but I still have problems remembering things, but thanks to God and much determination I was able to return to school. So I am actually furthering my education in the healthcare field my biggest desire. I did return to school to receive an Associate Degree in Business Administration which I completed in March of this year and I must say I graduated with honors, and now I am seeking a Bachelor in Healthcare Management and possibly will continue on to get a Master in Healthcare Management.
I must say this field (Healthcare is Âwide openÂ) the baby boomers of 1960Âs and 1970Âs will be our elderly in 2010; this is my greatest interest and biggest dream is to deal with elderly, from accommodations to assessments, profiling, and general care. This is what I KNOW I will accomplish.
