Margie's Story
Life
I was born and raised in S.F., attended James Lick Jr H.S. (3 yrs) and 10th grade Mission High School. (Went to Poly Tech for two days beginning of 10th grade, too far from home and more friends from James Lick going to Mission, SO I transferred myself to Mission High.) Lived in Noe Valley area, Elizabeth St near Hoffman ST. Moved to Pleasant Hill in August of 1959 and finished out high school at PH High School 1961.
I loved growing up in S.F. and missed my friends and S.F. very much. Was going to move back after graduation. I married Gary, from this area right out of H.S. had two daughters, Kim and Staci. Divorced after 13 years of marriage
and still living in Contra Costa County. Love the weather here.
I have 3 grandsons, Mario 22, Pedro 20 and Angelo 6 going on 15.
Kim is a Registered Nurse, remarried had Angelo, Mario is her first son.
Staci is a Lease Manager for a company in Walnut Creek, her son Pedro
is working towards becoming a fireman. I am proud of my family.
I worked for Contra Costa County Probation Dept. for 37 years and retired last year. Trying to get in some traveling, and visiting people, relatives I haven't seen in a long time. I go to Tahoe about twice a year, I love it there. Ski in winter when I can...Expand for more
. Don't ski as much as I used to. This year, went on a cruise to Alaska, met up w/friends in San Antonio, TX and traveled around from Austin to Courpis Christi, skiied in Tahoe, also Reno.
# When I lived in S.F. I ran around with kids from the Courts on 24th Street and some from Day Street park, I met at the dances. I was around 14+ when my friend Sue (Perri) Garner invited me to go along with her and Rita to a dance at Day Street. Sue married Roland Garner, we keep in touch.
I still see a few people I knew from Pleasant Hill High, Lois Anson, Susan Marks, Kathy McGuffy (Benna), JoAnn Semas. Would love to find one friend,
Maxine "Mickey" Kaplan who married in 1962 to Gordon Gross from Antioch.
I had 4 brothers and 4 sisters. One sister, passed away 2004. The rest all
over the place, Hawaii, Connecticut, Missouri, 4 in different areas of CA.
Workplace
Worked as clerical support for Contra Costa County Probation Dept.
for 37 years. I started as receptionist for Adult Felony Unit. Transferred to Juvenile in 1972 Diversion Unit, Concord. For many years, Petition and Citation clerk at Stanwell Office, Concord and Douglas Dr, Martinez Office.
Last 4 years I was Claims Processor for Victim's of Crime.
Retired April 2004.
