Marguerite's Story
Some of you know me by "Lynette" not Marguerite. I'm still short in stature, fair complexion, brown eyes with glasses now, & salt 'n pepper colored short hair. I attended/graduated from PS# 53, East High
school, Villa Maria College & Buffalo State College.
I still live in Buffalo. Growing up I lived on Woodlawn Ave. nr. Humboldt Pkwy.,and Meech Ave.
I now live in the University district. I taught in the BPS system for 30 yrs. in the area of Secondary Ed., Social Studies, esp. gr. 7 & 8. I am now retired, being able to take early retirement and I did enjoy my job. I feel that I was blessed to be able to do something that I had wanted to do from grade 8 - - to be able to help mold the lives of our youth to make them better citizens. They were a very imp. part of my life which resulted in my never getting married. I often see many of my students and I correspond with several who have families of their own. They call me by name but I , often , don't remember theirs.
My Dad passed away in 2002(81 yrs.), my Mom will soon be 81 yrs. old(2008) and is doing well, my bro.,Fred, is still around and married to Willena(Faye) Hedgepeth and my baby sis.,Rose, is m...Expand for more
arried to Tony Nichols and lives in Rochester,NY.
I like traveling, movies, music, eating out, catalog shopping, going to plays-esp. African- American ones, gardening, sewing, a good book, chocolate ice cream,
strawberries, shades of green but not dark green, and jewelry. I thank God for all I have and all I am, I love my family and my friends--old and new, I try to treat others as I want to be treated, I have no jealousy towards others, I try not to judge others and I am thankful for each new day.
As a child I remember the picnics at Como Park , the picnics & swimming at Beaver Island with my family. I loved to ride my bike that my grandfather & great Uncle bought & put together for my 8th birthday & I still have . I enjoyed going to the EHS football games with my grade school friend, Ella Hargrove(now Robinson) & we walked there & back home.
I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew
up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right. I
remember the 'PJ' parties I had & were invited
to while at EHS. I truly enjoyed my EHS years & it is true that those years are the best years of your life !! God Bless all of you.
