Maria's Story
Life
I live in Oreana with my husband Dan and our two children Hannah and Matthew. Dan and I have lived here since 1995 and he is currently the Mayor of Oreana so that makes me the "first lady," I guess. In my free time I keep busy with various volunteer opportunities. My passion for the performing arts keeps me working with the Richland Dance Company as a performer with Dan in the annual Nutcracker Ballet(Mrs. Sieberhaus) and as a writer of dialogue for their mini musical dance recitals. I have also been the assistant Director for the Argenta Oreana High School Music Department's Spring Musical for the past 5 years. In August, I was given the chance to be the musical director for a children's production of Aladdin. It was an awesome experience even though I ended up filling an adult role at the last minute. I try to give as many children as I can the opportunity to experience theatre. Community volunteerism is something I feel strongly about and that is why I coordinate the Oreana SHARE program which offers quality food at a quality price for all income levels. Argenta Oreana Public Library Board and serve as the treasurer. Recently I was appointed to the Argenta Oreana School Board and have since been elected to a 4 year term for that board. I am the only female serving on this board which allows me to bring an entirely different perspective to the meetings.
My family is important to me and I keep active by volunteering at school either in the classroom or on special trips. The Oreana Summer Park Program is a project of mine that keeps me busy during summer vacation. I have also been a Brownie leader for Hannah's troop for the past two years. From time to time, our family has even performed together in productions. I am proud that our children share my love for the Performing Arts. I have even managed to get Dan onstage and that has been exciting for all of us.
As for work, I manage to do some contractual work for foster parent support with a state agency. i am truly thankful for the wonderful family that we have. Being a mom and a wife are the best jobs that I have and I feel very blessed to be able to participate in all that I do.
