Marian's Story
Life
Many of us married and divorced during the Vietnam War. I was in that statistic. I had one beautiful son and shortly after, married again. This one lasted 24 years and two more children (daughter and another son).
I enrolled in college at age 36, a freshman at UTA, while working as an editorial assistant for the Chairman of the Department of Mathematics. I took one or two classes a semester while raising my children and changed my major at least 4 times. I became single again in 1990, had a great job with Mobil Oil Corp. and had the time of my life for five years. I vowed to never marry again, but alas, the perfect guy just had to show up.
I now live in Lubbock, TX, and love it here. We have 5 acres of dirt, unless we plant something on it and pray for rain, several horses...Expand for more
, chickens, dogs, and a cat. I work at Texas Tech University in the Civil Engr. Dept. as an editor for Texas Tech Multidisciplinary Research in Transportation Projects for TexDOT. My husband is an electrical superintendent. Most of his work is in West Texas on TexDOT projects.
While working at Texas Tech, I finished all course work and became a counselor intern for chemical dependency, but could never find a decent internship and decided that this wasn't my calling in life right now, so I counsel when I can on a volunteer basis.
Between the two of us, we have 5 grown children and 5 sweet grandchildren.
Life has not always been easy, but it is beautiful now.
Hope everyone that reads this has lived their lives to the max and didn't wait as long as we did to really enjoy living.
