Mariana's Story
Highlights of my past 30 years in 20 bullets or less:
- Graduated from OU in 1980.
- Another tassel - MBA from OU 1981.
- From Athens to Cleveland to Columbus to Detroit to Cleveland again.
- Career transition from Finance to IS Consulting.
- Got heavily involved in theater, mostly acting. Became adept at English and Southern accents.
- Lots of dancing, partying, socializing.
- Met & married another OU grad, Andy Hess, in 1989. He was a fine arts major in photography, and couple years ahead, although we never met. He says if we had, I never would have gone out with him. We met on a blind date - he asked my cousin out, not knowing about her secret boyfriend, and she redirected him. The rest is history.
- More theater.
- Built a house; got a fluffy, white doggie that was brilliant at generating...Expand for more
white fur tumbleweeds.
- Got out of consulting; worked at the Cleveland Clinic, OfficeMax and PolyOne (a plastics company), and carved a niche managing and supporting HR Systems.
- Had a baby daughter, Selene. She is 18 now! Beautiful, smart, independent.
- Less theater, debutante roles diminishing. :-(
- Brought home a poodle puppy -Â no shedding!
- Moved to Richmond, VA in 2007 for job op - better weather, greater opportunity, better weather
- Adopted a second rescue poodle -Â mayhem ensues!
- Became president of Richmond alumnae group for my sorority (Phi Mu). Learned managing volunteers is like wrangling cats.
- More theater, including my debut as director - more cats.
- Selene is a senior in high school this year, lots of college stuff!
