Marie's Story
After high school I attended UTEP for a couple of years and then met and married my husband Joe Serrano(not from Riverside)in 1984. That began my adventurous life as a military wife, moving from place to place every two to three years. My journey started in Jacksonville, North Carolina, took me to Southern California(El Toro Marine Corp Air Station; MCRD San Diego); Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; Iwakuni, Japan; and ended in Oceanside, CA at Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base. leven to twenty-two years old. Lord willing, I will be a grandma in December of 2010 when my oldest daughter and her husband will have their first baby.
The story does not end there: after not having lived in El Paso for twenty years, we moved back in 2004 after a definite call of the Lord to start a church in El Paso. My husband is the pastor of Valley Baptist Church and I work in the children's ministries. We moved back to the valley and enjoy being back in El Paso, because what I have found is that there really is no other place like home.
