Marilyn's Story
After Camden High School, I moved to Enid OK and began college at Phillips University in the fall of 1963. I majored in Liberal Arts with a minor in the Bible College.I graduated in May 1967 with a BA degree. I continued my education that summer at the Phillips Graduate Seminary in Enid OK. I graduated in May 1970 with a Masters in Religious Education (MRE). I accepted a position with a church in Kansas in January 1970 but left it in November 1970 after realizing I was living my dad's dream for me and not for myself. November 1970 and began a search for a career in which I could be happy and productive. I worked in a department store, an office supply company, and a jewelry store. In early 1974 I took the Civil Service exam in Oklahoma City OK. I scored well and was offered a position with the U.S.Department of Transportation that began in April 1975. Thirty years later I retired! During this period I married a man with two sons. We spent the first 10 years of our marriage seeking custody of his sons through the courts.
