Marilyn's Story
Hello fellow Estero classmates of 1988. I wish I could have come to the 20 year reunion, but I couldn't get away. Most things are the same and a few things have changed since I saw you all last at the 10 year reunion. I am still married to Joe Horahan. We will be celebrating our 13th anniversary soon. We have three daughters altogether [Jazell(24), Michayla(12), and Gabrielle(9)]. I still live in Tallahassee, FL. And, UGGGH, am still working on my masters degree. I have only been able to take classes sporadically so it seems I will never finish. Girl Scouting is still an important part of my life. I lead a troop and train for the Council. We still do a lot of camping and canoeing as a family. Jazell and I recently spent two weeks backpacking and canoeing up in Michigan. ican (Yes, it is possible to be an environmentalist and a Republican at the same time!). Really the only change is that I bought the preschool and private school I was teaching at. I have owned them for almost three years. It is stressful. Between the two schools we have 32 staff members and 225 students. The children are delightful, but dealing with DCF, DOE, ELC, NAEYC, FACCM, IRS, FDR, and the rest of the menagerie of governmental initials on a daily basis is nerve-wracking. It is probably why I enjoy going into the wilderness so much when I have some free time. I tell everyone that I won't have a cell phone signal where I'm going (whether I do or not!) Our next adventure is to the Smokey Mountains for Labor Day Weekend. I am planning on posting some pictures of my family soon and one of myself at some point. Since I am always the one behind the camera I don't have any decent pictures of myself. I'll get around to it at some point.
