Marilyn's Story

Life My son, SSG Clayton Dale, returned from Iraq on my birthday, November 11, 2007 to his base in Anchorage, Alaska. I thank God that he is home safe but also wish that this war was over and all our military men and women were home safe with their families. That is my prayer for all of them. I lost my mother on November 26, 2007. She is now with my dad and other family members. I miss her terribly. My mother was beautiful inside and out. I don't think as a child growing up that I admired her as much as I do today. She always had a smile and eyes that sparkled. She loved people and was such a lover of nature, especially spring flowers and trees when they began to turn those beautiful autumn colors of oranges, reds and yellows. I can only imagine the beauty that she sees now and how wonderful her life is. The old news is listed below: For the first two weeks of May, 2007, my son, SSG Clayton N. Dale, has been home on leave from Iraq. I certainly enjoyed my Mother's Day this year. He will be returning to Iraq on Sunday, May 20. I will definitely miss him. My request for all who read this --- please remember our troops in your prayers. They need our support and prayers more than you know. My life I consider to be a normal life: happily married to a guy named Larry, we have a total of 4 wonderful kids (now all adults), have 1 granddaughter and 3 grandsons. We live in Piedmont, OK on 3 acres and are looking forward to retiring some day. Our you...Expand for more
ngest, Keith, is at home right now until he can buy a home. We have told him he needs to find one pretty soon because upon retirement, we are selling our home, buying motorhome (oh yeah, I have it picked out already) and are going to travel and live with him 4 months out of the year. He is really looking forward to that (not really). His only question is how much rent are we willing to pay to live there for 4 months and how much are we paying for storage. My husband has a good answer, but I won't share that --- it is the answer most men would give their sons. I, on the other hand, would be willing to pay the whole house payment. Moms and dads are different, I guess. Moms want to keep them little and dads are really good at bringing in the visions of reality like "At 25 I was out of college and married with a kid and didn't live with my parents". However, when Keith moved to North Carolina last year, dad was the one who cried the most because he was going to miss his son. Three months later, the son came back home. Two daughters, Shelley and Tracy are married and live in Yukon and Mustang. No, they didn't follow us to OKC, we followed them. Got to missing the grandkids and had to move from a little town in northwest Oklahoma to the OKC area. We like it ok. My husband is a bank consultant and travels frequently and I am a manager for The CIT Group, Oklahoma City office. So as I said, my life is normal. I like Classmates. It is good to find old friends.
