Marilyn's Story
I attended a tech college (American Computer Programming Institute) immediately after graduation from Luther South. My first job was as a computer programmer with Sears, Roebuck Headquarters and eventually became a systems analyst. I moved into the Sears Tower in 1974 when it was brand new. In the meantime, I married Cook Westendorf who was a high school teacher, coach and dean of students for 39 years.
After our two daughters arrived on the scene, I started a new career as US manager for Canadian Adventure Camp, an international children's camp in northern Ontario. I recruited and booked US children to attend the camp and was liaison with their parents while they were at camp. mer from ages 8 to 16.
When we both retired in 2007, we moved up north to Beach Park, IL which is on Lake Michigan and just south of the Wisconsin border. Retirement is great, as every day is a Saturday now. It's just too bad we have to get old to get to this point!
Two grandchildren arrived to keep us busy and entertained.....identical twin girls, now 5 years old. We travel between our daughters' houses in Muskego, WI and Cleveland, Ohio. We also take trips to a lot of historical sites and battlefields all over the US since we retired. No surprise there, as Cook was a high school history teacher. I'm just along for the ride. :)
One of Marilyn's favorite quotes is:"I have taken the road less travelled and that has made all the difference.".
