Marilyn's Story
Wow, can't believe I'm on Classmates.com looking up friends I went to school with 35 year ago! God, how times flies! People say you keep in touch w/those you want to stay close to, but deep down we're curious to know what happened to those we thought were hunks or smart or funny -- wondering how their lives turned out.
I went to work right after graduation; didn't have an opportunity to go to college and never really regretted that. Worked for a medical association for 16 years, moved on to work in the financial industry for 16 years and now work with the Administration at Dauphin County Technical School for the last two years.
Like most everyone, I've hit a few bumps in life's journey, but when you're flying from one bump to another, you sure do get a good look at life from way up there. Those one or two big bumps help make the little bumps so much easier to handle.
The greatest pleasure in my life is my daughter, Hope, who is 27 years old. Hope got married in October 2007 and is expecting in early August. Yes, I am looking forward to my first grandchild and will spoil that child to the best of my ability.
Family is still an important part of my life, also. All siblings and nieces and nephews live relatively close, except one in Arizona and two in Virginia, so holidays still get pretty wild and crazy!
I like to go out on weekends to listen to...Expand for more
bands such as the Impact Band; like to listen to their 70's and 80's music which reminds me of high school, which reminds me of old "flames" and the "what if"s......marching band, band camp, clubs after school, activity bus.....time to get out the yearbook again and read all those notes that ended with "A.F.A" and "K.I.T.".......
Although I still keep in touch with Carol and Paul (unfortunately only at the holidays), I've had the unexpected fortune to run into Bob, Jeane, Buzz, Sandy and Greg within the last year or two, but often wonder what happened to Barb L., Phyllis, Marta, Pat, Ray, "Sam", Jeff, Dave, and so many others. Who knows, maybe we'll all show up for the next reunion!
I think the last time I had an opportunity to share time with former classmates was the one and only year I participated in the Alumni Band. We all had "Alumni" sweatshirts, marched at Homecoming and participated in a Halloween parade in Hummelstown. Although a minor setback now prevents me from playing the clarinet (no I didn't lose it), I think I'll have to attend some LD football games next year just to see how good the band is now. We sure did have a lot of fun with Mr. [Bear] Hummel.
Well, guess I'll close for now. Hope to see a lot of familiar faces at the reunion, but who am I kidding -- I probably won't recognize too many people there! Until then, enjoy life!!
