Marjorie McMartin's Story
Life
After high school I went to college for two quarters as a music major. Then I went to St. Luke's Hospital and studied to be an x-ray technician. I met and married my ex-husband while at St. Luke's as he was an intern there. We married and moved to Seattle for one year and then to San Antonio TX so that he could do his residency in OB-GYN. We divorced after 20 years of marriage. I went back to college and trained the second time to be an x-ray technician. This time I specialized in Mammography, doing mammograms, breast biopsies, etc.I am now retired. I have 3 children (1 girl and 2 boys), all in San Antonio TX. I didn't play my cello for the 20 years that I was married, but started again and now play in a church orchestra, and several string ensembles.. I hope to return to Spokane at some time to visit.
School
I went to Kindergarten and 1st grade in Phoenix Arizona. I attended Whitman Elementary from 2nd grade through 8th grade. I attended John Rogers High School 9th through 12th grades. I attended EWCE for a brief period and...Expand for more
then studied Radiologic Technology at St. Luke's Hospital. In 1980 I returned to college (St Philip's College in San Antonio TX) and got my AAS degree in Radiologic Technology. I specialized in Mammography, and believe it or not, while living in Virginia, I had a patient call me to find out where I was so that I could do her mammogram as I had been very professional, compassionate, and most of all, I hadn't hurt her. It's all in experience. I have been doing mammography for over 15 years.

I now live in an Assisted Living Facility after living in 2 different Nursing Homes. I have severe Osteoarthritis which has affected most of my joints, of which my back is the worst. I have two new hips and am looking forward to two new knees in the next year. I hope to have my back realigned and then go back to independent living, driving a car, etc. again. I am still playing my cello as well as I can considering my body habitus. God is great, and life is good. I am very thankfull for "Classmates" where I spend a lot of time reminiscing.
