Major (Retired) Mark T. Anderson is currently the Technical Director of the Homeland Security Office at the United States Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCoE), Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. As the program integration officer, he oversees the development of doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, and facility (DOTMLPF) requirements and products for the Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team program and other consequence management efforts at Fort Leonard Wood. Mr. Anderson joined the U.S. Army MANSCEN staff in September 1998 at Fort McClellan, Alabama, where he was the Acting Chief of the Training Aids, Devices, Simulations, and Simulators (TADSS) Division in the Directorate of Training.
Immediately prior to this assignment, from January 1997 through February 1998, Mr. Anderson served as the Military Affairs Advisor for U.S. Representative Bob Riley from Alabamas Third Congressional District. His mission was to serve as Congressman Rileys liaison with Fort McClellan and Anniston Army Depot, providing analysis of the impact of bills or executive orders on National Military Readiness, Veterans issues, and certain environmental policies. During this time, Mr. Anderson was a member of the Fort McClellan Restoration Advisory Board, overseeing the environmental cleanup of the post, and other civic boards. He was also elected to office in Calhoun County, Alabama, as the Secretary of the Calhoun County Republican Executive Committee, and stood on the ballot as a Delegate for Ambassador Alan Keyes the 1996 Presidential election.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on June 17, 1958 and educated in public schools in Illinois and Indiana, he is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a Baccalaureate in Liberal Arts and Sciences and Jacksonville State University with a Master of Public Administration degree. He is currently a candidate for a PhD at Indiana State University with a research interest in Leading Virtual Teams.

Mr. Anderson enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard in the 1970s and in 1981 received a commission as an Infantry Officer through the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Illinois. He received specialized training in air assault skills and was a graduate of the USMC Scout Sniper course. He served on active duty as a Chemical Officer from 1982 through 1992, and is a graduate of the Chemical Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Radiation Safety Course, and the Combined Arms and Services Staff School. His assignments included Rifle and Scout Platoon Leader in the Illinois Army National Guard, and Decontamination Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, Chemical Detachment Commander, and Brigade Chemical Officer in Germany. At Fort McClellan, he was a Platoon Trainer for the Officer Basic Course, Basic Non-commissioned Officer Course Branch Chief, and a Doctrine Officer. His military awards include the Army Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He retired from the Army Reserve as a Major in 1998.
From 1992 until rejoining Federal service in 1998, Mr. Anderson was a defense consultant, publishing extensively on issues related to environmental remediation, nuclear, biological, and chemical defense and counter proliferation, and obscurant operations.
Mr. Anderson is married to the former Jylonda Gardner of West Frankfort, Illinois. has three children, Amy Anderson, 26, who is a Senior at Missouri State University, Springfield, Missouri; Erin Rex, 26, who is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Missouri University of Science and Technology; and Specialist Eric Soulsby, 22, who is currently deployed to Afghanistan.
He is a life member of Disabled American Veterans, Lizard State Chapter #3, Alabama and a member of Galilei Lodge 810-A, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Kaiserslautern, Germany. Mr. Anderson also a member of two academic societies, Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science National Honor Society, and Pinnacle, the Honor Society for Non-traditional Students.
