Mark A.'s Story
After leaving Westford for Cornell, I gave up my Navy ROTC scholarship after 1 yr and transferred to Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo. I was recruited out of Cal Poly by Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, CA and have stayed with the expanded Boeing Company since 1988.
I started dating my future wife, Wendy, in 1989. We were married in 1996. Immediately after marriage, we moved to Southern Spain and started traveling the world for work and for play. (I joke with people that she didn't finally agree to marry me out of love as much as for a desire to live in Europe :-) After Spain, we moved to Taiwan. stmas Day 2003. (Apparently, we were drunk and celebrating our departure from Taiwan earlier that year.) Our daughter, Kaylee, was born in July of 2005 and she was only 6 wks old when we arrived in Japan. In August of this year, we moved to Bangalore, India. We anticipate staying here for ~3 yrs.
I've been a gypsy all my life. I really didn't enjoy all the moving around growing up, but it's become part of my DNA now. In spite of all the dysfunction in my life in high school (and into my early 30s) and my short stay there, Westford felt like "home". Wendy and I want to give a similar sense of home to our children. So, we'll be returning to the US after this assignment.
All my life, I've felt "blessed" or "lucky". I hope you do too.
