Mark's Story

Life I moved from Wisconsin to California in 1961, grew up in Anaheim near Crescent and Gilbert. I met my wife, Ginger Olson in our senior year, and we were engaged for four years, and got married in 1976. I bought my first home in Fullerton, right after my 3 year military service ended. Ginger and and I started our family in 1978 and now have three grown children, Jason, 26, Danny, 23, and Alisha, 21. For ten years I played tournament softball, and coached little league for my boys. We love riding Harleys, having owned several since high school. We have enjoyed boating, camping, sking, owning horses, golf, fishing, dirt bike riding. Now that we have recently moved to the high desert, we may be getting back into the "dirt scene" with quads. Although most of my life has been seriously devoted to my demanding work of Aerospace, my greatest enjoyment is the time I spend with my family. To be honest, if I had anything to do over again, I would not have chosen Aerospace as my first career choice. But with 8 more years till retirement, I think I can endure it. haha! All in all my work has been good for me and my family. Ginger and I are in the empty nest chapter of our lives, and since none our children have married yet, we still have much to look forward to. There is never a dull moment around the Boda household, that's for sure. And that's how I like it! School I wasn't that INTO school, but I did have a favorite teacher; Mr McNalley -- Auto Shop. I do have a memory of when Kenedy High School attacked Savanna, intending to "spray paint the Rebel" and so we got permission to ...Expand for more
defend our school premises. There were some injuries, but we held our ground. Ha! I did enjoy current issues class in my senior year, since I met my wife, Ginger Olson, there. We will be celebrating our 29 wedding anniversary this coming October! If I had one thing to do over again, I would have attended my high school graduation ceremonies. After having watched all three of my children walk for their diploma, I see what an important moment that really is. I have to say, I DID a drive by on my Harley that day in 1972, and at the time, could only think "what a great day for a ride!" haha! Workplace I worked at the Euclid Car Wash during my junior and senior years, in the summer and weekends. After Military service, I worked at 7-up Bottling company for l year, then began a carreer in Machining. For five years I worked job shops, as an apprentice tool maker. In 1982 I was hired by Rockwell International as a Journeyman Tool Maker. I worked in the Marine Systems Division and also Missle Guidance Systems for 12 years. Boeing Corporation bought Rockwell Corp in '96 and at that time, I became a Master Machinist, and now work in Research and Development for Boeing. I have been in the aerospace industry for a total of 23 years, and counting! Military I joined the Navy right after High School, spent boot camp in San Diego, then was stationed in Lemore, Calif for 3 years. During that time I did two Westpack tours on an aircraft carrier; USS ENTERPRISE as a Naval Air Plane Captain. Both tours totalled 16 months in Viet Nam. I was honorably discharged in 1975 with a rate of 3rd class.
