Mark's Story
Long strange trip ..... went to SFVSC/CSUN after Grant. Upon graduation went to the University of Washington for graduate school getting a Masters Degree in Social Work. Split time between Seattle and LA from 75-81, finishing grad school and working for Jewish Centers Association in LA. Back to Seattle in 81 - and have been here ever since. Worked for King County Housing Authority (low income housing project) running a drop in gym and activity center, then for Youth Eastside Services, working in a King County Parks department setting with community service youth (this was in lieu of jail time for the kids). Got married in May 1983 in Carmel Valley, CA (wifes family lives in Salinas, CA) with 2 Grant alum in attendance (Rick Pam and Greg Nixon). In Fall of 83 went back to the UW to get a Masters in Health Administration. Graduated in 1985 and went to work for Bastyr Universty, which trains Naturopathic Physicians, Acupuncturists...Expand for more
and Nutritionists. I was the business director of their teaching clinic. Stayed there for 14 years, and in 1999 went to work for Group Health Cooperative first as the Business Operations Manager for their Eastside Hospital, then as the Senior Business Operations Manager of the Bellevue Medical Center and currently am the Associate Director for Business Operations for our North Region Medical Centers.
My wife and I will be celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary in May of 2010. Our son is 24 and he is living in LA, working and attending Santa Monica College. Our daughter is almost 20 and has just completed her first year at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. I have been a youth soccer coach for the last 17 years and finally 'retired' last year. As empty nesters we are having fun playing!!!
Life goes on and music is forever cause once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right!!!
