Mark's Story
Life
I guess I've had a somewhat varied life so far. I've lived in almost every area of the country, from Minnesota, Kansas, Connecticut, back to Kansas, California, Oklahoma, California, and back to Kansas...again. I've even lived in South Korea for a time. No, I wasn't in the military, I was just following what my heart felt like doing at that time. Okay, well some of it was because I was little and my family moved. I've worked in many different fields and have met a huge variety of people. Through it all I feel fortunate that I've been able to maintain a core group of friends that I would, basically, trust with my life. However, there are people that I have lost touch with that I have wished were still a part of my life and I guess that's part of why I'm registered here. The other part is morbid curiosity (i.e., whose life has turned into a train wreck and who blossomed).
Workplace
I graduated from ...Expand for more
college with a degree in Film and I moved out to Los Angeles with dreams of red carpets and dollar signs. I worked at a large talent agency for a while but decided that I didn't want to deal with the ego's of the agents anymore than I wanted to deal with the actor's and writer's egos. So, I quit doing that and started teaching kickboxing at a gym in Santa Monica. That lasted for a while but I got bored. I then moved to Korea to teach english to kids. After that, I moved back to Los Angeles and was going to get back into entertainment but our country got attacked on 9/11. I was unemployed at the time and I was watching a lot of news coverage. This made me start questioning what I was looking for out of life. I decided that I would feel a lot better about myself trying to help people rather than being the one with the most toy's at the end of the race. I left L.A. and moved back to Kansas and became a cop.
